FAQs

Can I light my tiny candle with a lighter?

We strongly recommend using the matches we sell. If you run out, an electric or long neck lighter will do alright.

Please don't use a small lighter. It will only fill your jar with black smoke and soot, and melt the wax out of the jar from holding it upside down.

What is the difference between cotton and wood wicks?

Cotton wicks are braided strands of cotton dipped in wax, therefore, they are significantly cheaper than the thin slabs of wood made specifically for candles. CWs are very easy to light and maintain, while WWs take some additional maneuvering and require more attention.

CWs can be trimmed with any sort of scissors or nail clippers while WWs may require wick trimmers (specially once your wick is halfway through or lower).

With both wicks you are required to trim the wick before re-lighting your candle to prevent build-up carbon and soot. Each should be properly trimmed at different heights, click here to know more about Pragma's Candle Care.

For WWs, the lighting process can be more tricky taking up to 2-3 times to light the wick at times.

WWs also differ given to their beautiful crackling sound.
